MRC-UVA productThe MRC-UVA Universal Vehicle Adapter provides a flexible vehicle docking and charging solution for handheld radios. It enables operators to use the same radio whether mounted in a vehicle or carried on dismounted missions. Designed for rapid “jerk-and-run” operations, the MRC-UVA supports a broad range of widely deployed radios from Harris, Thales, and other manufacturers. Its universal charging pocket accommodates up to 16 radio models and variants.

The MRC-UVA continues to be manufactured and supported for legacy customers and platforms. However, for users operating newer-generation radios, the MRC-UVA-V1 provides several significant advantages.

  • Expanded radio compatibility, including support for the Harris AN/PRC-163 and Army Leader Radio programs, while maintaining compatibility with the broad range of radios supported by the original MRC-UVA.
  • Advanced battery communications through SMBus and DQ interfaces, enabling monitoring of multiple battery parameters for enhanced charging safety. In contrast, the MRC-UVA primarily monitors battery cell temperature.
  • An advanced microprocessor with external software updating capability, allowing the adapter firmware to be updated without hardware modification.
  • Simultaneous two-channel radio operation and battery charging, allowing supported radios to operate while docked and charging.
  • Higher power capability, with increased input power capacity (150 W versus 100 W) and a wider operating input voltage range (10–40 VDC versus 11–36 VDC).

Overall, the MRC-UVA-V1 enhances the original design with expanded radio compatibility, more advanced battery monitoring, software update capability, increased power handling, and support for simultaneous two-channel radio operation and charging.

The MRC-UVA can be used in tactical or non-standard vehicles to provide radio mounting and charging. As an added safety feature, the MRC-UVA monitors the radio battery and discontinues charging if an overtemperature condition exists.
