Custom Power Starts with Your Application

If a custom solution is needed, we believe the best outcomes start with the operating profile.

If a battery or power solution is required, Ultralife engineers evaluate application requirements including voltage, current demand, pulse loads, runtime, space constraints, operating conditions, safety, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle expectations. These factors guide selection of the optimal battery configuration, capacity, performance characteristics, certifications, cost, and availability.

medical battery innovation by ultralife

From there, the design can be optimized around:

  • Lithium chemistry selection
  • Cell format and configuration
  • Series and parallel pack architecture
  • Welded or soldered interconnects for continuity reliability
  • Protection electronics and safety devices
  • Mechanical packaging, connectors, and sealing
  • Charger, docking, or power supply integration
  • Communications and electronics system compatibility
  • Compliance and transport requirements

X5-SuperLite USB-C Charging SolutionX5-SuperLite USB-C Charging Solution

Power USB-C tablets, laptops, and mobile devices from hot-swappable batteries

  • For pole and mobile carts that need to power USB-C devices such as iPads, tablets, laptops, and notebook PCs, Ultralife has developed the X5-SuperLite. Using Ultralife’s 276.5Wh URB-X5 hot-swappable battery, a single X5-SuperLite can power up to two devices simultaneously.
  • Additional X5-SuperLite units can be added to power more devices at the same time. Multiple X5-SuperLites can also be daisy chained to increase available energy and extend runtime.
  • An optional Hold-Up Battery (HUB) maintains uninterrupted power during battery replacement or while connecting an alternative USB-C power source or charger. The HUB can provide up to 100W of backup power for up to 5 minutes.
  • Where multiple X5-SuperLites are deployed, Ultralife’s State of Charge Indicator (SOCI) provides a convenient way to monitor the charge status of each battery at a glance.

Ultralife Thin Cell batteryThin Cell® (LiMnO2)

Power next-generation devices with cells as thin as 1.1mm

  • Efficiently packaged in a pouch cell format, Ultralife’s 3.0V Thin Cells® are available in more than eight pre-engineered, compact sizes.
  • This small size does not compromise performance, as Thin Cells® have an energy density of around 500Wh/l and 400Wh/kg compared to just 300Wh/l and 260Wh/kg for the best lithium coin cells.
  • The use of low-resistance current collectors allows Ultralife Thin Cells® to outperform coin cells at higher discharge rates—the ideal solution for applications that require high bursts of energy, such as those with RF transmitters.
  • All cells have an operating temperature range between -20°C and +60°C, allowing them to function in low temperatures when other batteries would freeze.
  • All Thin Cells® are certified to UL 1642 for safety and UN 38.3 for transportation. Select models are also certified to IEC 60086-4 safety standards. Refer to individual technical datasheets for certification details.
  • Thin Cells® are engineered to resist swelling and maintain dimensional stability during storage and use.
  • In addition to off-the-shelf standard cell models, Ultralife can specially manufacture Thin Cells® in unique sizes to suit specific customer requirements.

XR123AXR123A

High-capacity power for compact commercial and medical devices

With a typical capacity of 2,000mAh, the run-time of the XR123A is around 30 percent greater than other CR123A batteries on the market.

A compact and lightweight power source, the XR123A is well-suited for low- to medium-rate applications that require a long service life. These include digital cameras, LED flashlights, various meters, and small electronic appliances requiring relatively high currents.
